TOP NURSING JOBS - Travel Nursing
TRAVEL CANADA
Many of our assignments need more than one nurse, so if you want to work and travel with a friend, here is your opportunity!
Northern Manitoba
Work with a fantastic group of dedicated healthcare professionals in a community of 15,000. For nurses who thrive on challenge, this assignment offers a chance to use the full scope of your skills in the ER, med/surg or OR, while being supported by a terrific group of MDs and administrators. The assignment pays $45/hour plus a generous per diem for each day of the assignment.
Western Canada - Rural Nursing
Rural communities in Western Canada need your help! SMC offers assignments in a variety of communities across BC, AB, SK & MB. If you have skills in ER, med/surg or LDR, why not consider sharing them with some of Canada's remote, underserved areas. Add on generous wages and per diem compensation to make these assignments some of the top locations requested by our travel nurses team!
SMC offers opportunities outside of acute care. Have you ever considered home care, mental health & addictions or corrections? Oftentimes, these positions are Monday to Friday during the day, provide a break from night shifts, and offer the same great rates of pay as acute care. Contact us to find out more.
USA and AUSTRALIA - UPDATE
Given the economic situation of the past year and the way these countries fund their healthcare systems, the nursing opportunities for Canadians are not as prevalent as they once were. While there are positions available and the nursing shortage is still impacting healthcare in both countries, many employers are choosing local candidates for full-time positions instead of travel nurses. For nurses under 30 years old, Australia still offers the Working Holiday Visa. Our Australian partner is seeing contracts picking up in Sydney. Call us toll free at 877-525-3870 or email us to find out more.
Maritimes Calling!
Enjoy an assignment in these picturesque coastal towns in Northern Newfoundland. Use your skills in ER or rural nursing to assist communities of 500 to 1500. Contact us today to learn more about these immediate positions.

TRAVEL NURSES SURVEY
SMC recently surveyed our travel nurses, and asked them why they enjoyed this kind of work. Here is a reflection of what they told us.
Flexibility – “I love that I can go to work for one to two months, and then come home and take some time off. Work hard, play hard is how I like to live and this works for my lifestyle!” - Brendan
Seeing Canada - “The reason I keep travel nursing is that I love to explore. I've seen parts of Canada and experienced communities I had never heard of before starting this last year.” - Melissa
Experience – “The ER here is pretty busy, even for a town of 1,500 and I've been able to gain some experience that I couldn't get at home. The other night I delivered my first baby!” - Michelle
Making a real difference – “Thanks for setting up this contract for me. I've been working across Canada for the past 20 years, and by coming here, I have been reminded just how much the north needs our help.” - Diane
The people are terrific – “I've had birthday celebrations, been invited to share Thanksgiving dinners and had sightseeing tours by some of the most welcoming people. The nurses I get to spend my day with really appreciate my help and have gone out of their way to make me feel part of their town.” - Julie
The money is great – “I get to try out some new hospitals, and be paid really well. On top of that, since my accommodations are paid, I've been able to pocket most of what I earn and have saved some money for a down payment on a house.” - Patty

NURSES FORUM
H1N1 – Please make sure to bring complete information on the model and size of disposable respirator for which you have been fit-tested. Please note: As a precautionary measure, most facilities will ask you to stay home for 7 days if you display symptoms of the illness. To learn more about the H1N1 virus, visit www.phac-aspc.gc.ca.
Travel Tips - #1: Given recent restrictions on liquids in carry-on luggage, consider stockpiling sample sizes of your favourite toiletries for use en route to your assignment. You can pick up larger containers of items once you arrive, and avoid any issues at airport check in.
#2: Experienced travelers pack their own disinfectant wipes to clean off airline trays or hands while en route.
